Ballyhoo Commerce 1.9.7 has recently been released as a minor update to our e-commerce system. As always there have been a number of superficial bug fixes and enhancements to the system as well as the addition of some great new features.
As part of continually improving Ballyhoo Commerce not only as an advanced yet easy to use e-commerce system, but an attractive system too, we’ve updated many of the functions in both the front and back-end to use the JQuery web effects library. These effects help heighten your users’ experience on your website and, although subtle, effects such as a simple fade in and out of text can be very impressive.
As an example, if you add a product to the shopping basket the quantity and sub-total will gently fade out then fade back in with the new values to indicate there has been a change. This effect has also been used when changing product variations where a change in price is specified.
By using these effects, usability has been greatly enhanced.
Many of the language management functions developed in previous versions of the software have been refined for Version 1.9.7. These improvements make the multi-lingual functionality of Ballyhoo e-commerce websites much more efficient and flexible.
As well as making the language system more efficient, notifications can now be sent to multiple users based on the language they were generated in.
In the admin area it is possible to specify who will receive emails such as order notifications, submitted product reviews and product return requests. For example, notifications generated on your French language site won’t be sent to someone who can’t speak French (or vice versa) and can therefore be handled appropriately.
