TL;DR

We’ve been working with fire safety supplier Eurofyre for over a decade on their website, most recently adding custom e-commerce features as well as optimising their marketing strategy to ensure they are discoverable.

Project Overview

Eurofyre have been working with us ever since their first website was developed in 2007, trusting us to look after their site and modernise it as times and their business changed.

In the latest evolution of the website we fully updated eurofyre.co.uk, developing a new custom WordPress website from the ground up that’s in line with modern trends, tools and techniques.

One of Eurofyre’s main goals was to create a repository of information about the products they stock, cementing their website a valuable asset to their business. In addition, they wanted to introduce ecommerce functionality to allow customers to buy these products online.

Who are Eurofyre?

Eurofyre is a global manufacturer and supplier of specialist fire detection and associated safety products. Their mission is to drive innovation in fire safety and create faster, more effective fire detection products and systems that protect property, assets and lives.

Their commitment to quality is shown not only through their ISO 9001 certification, but also through their ongoing drive to make their website a useful resource and create an exceptional customer experience.

Project Brief & Proposal

Eurofyre are an aesthetically-focused and technically-minded company, so the initial stages of this project were more collaborative than our usual process. Eurofyre provided us with a comprehensive brief of how they would like their website to evolve and we collaborated to produce a proposal with the following goals:

  • A fresh web design in line with current trends and UX best practice with a modern, flat feel to resemble today’s leading technology companies;
  • Highly discoverable content to allow Eurofyre to reach an even wider global audience;
  • Functionality to add new products and categories, to allow users to find products easily;
  • Custom page modules to display their portfolio of information and increase user value.

Eurofyre had a clear vision and provided us with wire-frames and specific details as to how they would like the project to unfold which aided us greatly in producing a final product they could be proud of.

Look & Feel

We worked closely with Eurofyre to produce their website design concept. Acting as consultants, we suggested improvements to thier initial wireframes and advised on areas where user experience and functionality could be enhanced. Once the finer details were agreed we set about finalising the design.

Eurofyre.co.uk has been based around striking full width images and dominant call-to-actions. A clean, flat and modern layout echoes the products available and the colour theme matches their branding. Thumbnail images on the home and category pages make navigation simple and effective, creating a natural funnel through the site.

“It’s always a pleasure working with Ballyhoo. They have supported us with online marketing and website development for many years. Great service and a kind bunch.”

The Technical Details

Web Development

The original Eurofyre website was built on a proprietary content management system which was no longer being supported. We advised the client to move the website over to WordPress due to the ease of use for administrators, but more so the flexibility it gives us as developers to adapt features and deliver custom functionality.

The client did not want to go down the route of full e-commerce at this point in time, so we created a custom module to display Eurofyre’s products using multiple images, key features and product information that can be easily divided into sections and made easily navigable by a fixed menu. Products can be added to a shopping basket and the user then follows a familiar e-commerce checkout process. Having WordPress as our foundation, we have the ability to switch to full e-commerce in the future should business operations require it.

The website is fully responsive and adapts to any screen resolution from widescreen to mobile and therefore operates seamlessly across an infinite range of desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
