We designed a wedding comparison engine, allowing suppliers to create profiles about their brand and offerings, for users to find them and enquire.

Project Overview

We loved the concept of Go Wedding Compare, so we jumped at the opportunity to create a search engine and comparison website application that allows users to search in a variety of categories for suppliers they want at their dream wedding.

Who are Go Wedding Compare?

Go Wedding Compare are a start-up wedding comparison company that aids users who are planning and organising a wedding to easily find and compare service providers and suppliers, to make their dream big day a reality.

  • Strong brand design that is powerful enough to stand out at wedding fairs;
  • Sleek website with pops of colour and UX at the heart;
  • Responsive website design to work on mobile, tablet and desktop;
  • Search functionality and ability to compare different providers;
  • Ability for suppliers to add their business listing in order to be discovered on the site.

Branding & Identity

We were keen to ensure a strong identity was formed and that this is followed through to the website and marketing materials. Having a clear and professional image from the outset was required to help demonstrate to suppliers that this is a business they want to be associated with.

We developed a strong logo and brand guidelines to go with this, documenting how the logo should be used in various scenarios and defining colour palettes and typography.

Go Wedding Compare expressed that they want the logo to be simple, modern, edgy, contemporary and sophisticated, avoiding traditional and cliche elements such as wedding rings, hearts, or flowers.

The Technical Details

Web Development

Firstly, we created wireframe designs for key areas of the website. As the website is intended to save users time and prevent them from having to contact multiple suppliers in order to obtain pricing, the website needed to be slick and effortless to use. The website was designed to be fully responsive, meaning users can browse and use the website on desktop, mobile and tablet.

Initiating a Search

Users are able to use the search filter to search for venues, vehicle hire, catering suppliers, photographers/videographers and stage/decor designers. Users can enter the potential number of guests in order to only see venues and caterers that can accommodate this, however, this isn’t relevant for vehicle hire or photographers.

Saving Results

We created functionality on the website to allow users to save their search to return to it at a later date. They may wish to consider their options or show them to their partner before making an enquiry so this feature allows them to easily return to the site at a later date. This is also an opportunity to encourage users to create an account including an email address to save their results which could be used to distribute marketing materials such as email newsletters.

Supplier Reviews

When choosing a supplier for your “big day” cost isn’t the only factor. We were keen to ensure that supplier ratings and reviews could be gathered and showcased, helping users to make decisions.

Monetisation

The website was built to generate revenue through a number of channels:

  • Suppliers are invited to join the system and pay a subscription in order to show in search results and receive enquiries.
  • The option for suppliers to pay extra to be listed as a “featured supplier”. This means they are highlighted in search results, increasing the likelihood of being contacted and generating more subscription revenue for the website.

Analytics & Event Tracking

The website is tightly integrated with Google analytics, with data tied into key events on the website meaning we can even determine how successful a keyword or marketing campaign is in bringing in enquiries, not just visitors.

We trigger events whenever a user:

  • Clicks a telephone number to start a call (i.e. on a mobile device)
  • Clicks an email address to compose an email
  • Completes a contact form
  • Completes an enquiry form to be submitted to suppliers.
