Google Currents (previously Google+) will no longer be available from 5th July 2023. 

Google Currents Shutdown

All data from Google+ and Currents will be deleted. However, if you’d like to retain your Google data you must export it from the Admin console before 30th June 2023. Learn how to export data from Google Currents here.

What is Google Currents?

Google Currents is Google’s take on enterprise-focused communication apps, similar to a social network. Google Currents is an update from Google+, which was deactivated in 2019, and allows users to post messages to your company, specific groups or organisations within the company. It also has a direct messaging functionality. 

Why is Google Currents Being Shut Down?

Google announced that it is shutting down Google Currents to encourage users to use Chat and Spaces instead, with both features being integrated into Gmail. These two features allow users to communicate easily.
