Earth Day 2025

Sustainability | |

Today, 22nd April, the world observes Earth Day – a day to build awareness of environmental issues.

This year, Earth Day celebrates its 55th anniversary, with the day as important today as it was back when it was founded in 1970. The theme this year is ‘Our Power, Our Planet’ focusing on renewable energy.

The Importance of Renewable Energy

Renewable energy emits little to no greenhouse gas emissions, making it a clean way to produce energy that does not have negative impacts on the environment. Unfortunately, burning fossil fuels is shortening the life of the planet and having direct effects on people, and is not sustainable for the future.

An increase in the use of renewable energy helps to fight climate change, preserve biodiversity and protect ecosystems. In addition, it removes our dependence on fossil fuels, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

We’re proud to provide Green Certified Hosting, certified through the Green Web Directory, meaning this website and our clients’ websites all run on renewable energy. To become certified we were required to show evidence of our carbon emissions (or lack thereof) and confirmation of our servers that run on renewables. Since 2020, our hosting infrastructure has produced 0.0 MTCO2e carbon emissions meaning our clients can rest assured that their websites are not harming the environment.

Tips to Make a Difference

Switch Suppliers

Switching suppliers to those who use renewable energy rather than fossil fuels is a great way to make a big impact. You can switch your energy providers for both your business and domestic household, and also the providers that you use every day – even down to which supermarket you shop in or beauty items you have in your bathroom cabinet. Companies such as Tesco and IKEA1 use renewable energy and by supporting them rather than their fossil fuel guzzling counterparts, you send a message that together we will be listened to.

In your worklife, you can switch to planet friendly alternatives, such as your email or phone contract supplier.

Advocate for Change

Together, we can make our voices heard. Participating in local elections and speaking collectively as a community will push the Government to make changes and make a plan for a renewable exclusive future.

Promote Sustainable Transportation

If you aren’t able to make switches to renewable energy, you can invest more in using no energy – such as walking to work rather than driving. Using less energy in general helps the environment by reducing the amount of harmful pollutants in the atmosphere.
