We Tried Ecosend’s Eco-Friendly Email Software – and This Is What We Thought

Marketing | |

On our journey to be more sustainable, we wanted to try an eco-friendly option for email campaign software. We trialled EcoSend, and here’s what we thought…

What is EcoSend?

EcoSend is an email marketing platform, who are on a mission to eliminate the carbon footprint of email marketing.

EcoSend emails are powered by parent company GoSquared, which was founded in 2006 and has been building business software since.

Eco Friendliness of EcoSend

When sending emails with EcoSend, they automatically offset the carbon which is needed to send the campaign. In fact, they plant a tree on your behalf just on sign up! They have currently planted over 5,000 trees with their partners Tree Nation and Tree App.

EcoSend allows you to create emails that are delivered to every device, whilst helping you to showcase your climate values to customers.

What’s more, in your account dashboard, you can easily keep track of how many trees you’ve planted, and how much CO2 has been reduced in doing so.

With EcoSend, you also have the ability to create subscription forms to embed on your website, encouraging your audience to sign up to your newsletter. There are a number of customisation settings for your forms, allowing you to choose which fields you display and the colour of the form button. You can also add double-opt in settings.

Integrations

EcoSend currently has a number of integrations available, including Zapier, Intercom, Salesforce and Segment.

They also offer a Mailchimp integration, to make it easy to migrate from one to the other.

Schedule Email

EcoSend has recently released the ability to schedule emails to send in the future.

Our Thoughts

Currently, the format and layout of the software is rather clunky. At time of writing, they also do not offer the functionality to add images into HTML emails as there is no image storage, so these must be text only. Therefore, we are currently holding off migrating from our current platform to EcoSend as we have a custom HTML email template which we import for each campaign. However, you can add images using their drag and drop layout feature.
