On the 10th January 2011 Joomla released version 1.6 of their award-winning, open-source content management system.
This release has a brand new look and an array of great new features to take the management of your website to the next level.
Existing users of Joomla familiar with the administration area will notice the aesthetic improvements to the system straightaway. The look and feel has been refined and brought right up to date with new icons and cleaner lines.
The admin menus have been reorganised and improved to make them more logical, they also include shortcuts to often used functions like ‘New Article’.
Time saving buttons
Throughout Joomla 1.6 there are new buttons that save precious time when working on your site.
This version includes a basic way to implement a multi-language site.
You can set as many languages as you like and set any articles you write to be included under the appropriate language.
No more sections! Nested categories only, in unlimited numbers and levels.
You can now set meta descriptions and keywords for categories as well as articles and in articles you can change the page title and you can add the site name to page titles.
