Google has announced that the Google Duo app will soon be updated with all Google Meet features. The app will also be renamed to Google Meet later in 2022.

The app will now allow you to schedule video meetings and use video calling from Meet.
The new changes could mean that the settings you use on the app could impact your users’ ability to continue using video calling within Google Meet.
With the new features, as an admin you will be able to do the following:
Manage Duo Video Calling Features
You will now be able to access and manage features using the Additional Google Services control.
To prevent your users from losing access, Google recommends that you keep the Additional Google Services control ON for your organisation. Turning the Additional Google Services control OFF for your users could disrupt any apps without individual ON/OFF switches.

Manage Google Meet Access
To manage Google Meet access, navigate to your Admin Console.
To prevent your users from losing access, it is advised that you keep Google Meet ON for your organisation. If you turn Google Meet OFF, Duo users registered with your organisation’s Google Workspace account will lose access when it is updated to Meet.
What is Google Duo & Google Meet?
Google Duo is a free, simple video calling app that allows you to have face-to-face calls with others. It has been compared to Apple’s FaceTime, feeling more personal than Hangouts and Meet. It allows you to play both voice and video calls to contacts via phone numbers and email addresses, as well as having functionality to leave video messages for those who can’t answer calls.
Actions Required
