Google Universal Analytics Terminating July 2024 – Last Reminder

Google | |

Google Analytics 4 will fully replace Universal Analytics from 1st July 2024, meaning from this date, your Universal Analytics properties and accounts will be inaccessible.

We mentioned in our previous blog posts that Universal Analytics was being replaced by Google Analytics 4, however up until now you’ve still been able to access your old Universal Analytics account and data. From July this year, you will no longer be able to access this, you will only be able to access your Google Analytics 4 account, if you have set one up. If you have not set up a GA4 account, you will lose all analytics.

Export Your Universal Analytics Data

To continue to access your Universal Analytics data, you will need to download or export your data now. If you fail to do this, all of your Universal Analytics data will be deleted permanently by Google.

Instructions on how to export your Universal Analytics data.

Migrate to Google Analytics 4

Universal Analytics is being replaced by Google Analytics 4.

To migrate your Universal Analytics account to a Google Analytics 4 account, follow the steps below:

  1. Select the UA property you’d like to migrate over.
  2. Select ‘GA4 Setup assistant’, and then ‘Get Started’ (under ‘I want to create a new Google Analytics 4 property’). If you’re using Google Tag Manager, you can allow data collection for your current tags. Find out more here.
  3. Select ‘Create Property’, and your GA4 property is created.
  4. Select ‘Setup Assistant’ from your GA4 admin page to see the remaining steps.
